1870 shakes up a storm with the ’Beasties’ at Walpole Awards 2010

Monday 15th November saw 1870 take to the prestigious Banqueting House in London’s Palace of Whitehall as an official sponsor of the 2010 Walpole Awards.

The Walpole Awards celebrate excellence in British luxury and design and it seemed appropriate that guests in all their finery sipped on 1870 cocktails ahead of the exclusive ceremony.

1870 were proud sponsors of the British Luxury Design Talent category which featured an illustrious list of designers including fashion designer Christopher Kane, graphic artists Timorous Beasties and milliner to the stars Phillip Treacy.

1870 Marketing Manager Iolanda Hudson took to the stage in the magnificent great room to announce that Scottish design duo Timorous Beasties were the winners of the coveted gong.

Timorous Beasties, founded in Glasgow in 1990 by Alistair McAuley and Paul Simmons, specialise in provocative textiles and wallpapers and the quirky and talented design duo were on hand to collect their award.

Other winners during the evening included Burberry, Claridges, Erdem and Hackett London and the evening truly was a celebration of what we Brits do best; luxury brands with true style and panache.

Following the grand ceremony guests retreated to the vaults of the grand Banqueting House to enjoy champagne and 1870 cocktails whilst congratulating the deserving winners; well done everyone!
